Our work ensures state waters can support beneficial uses including recreational and business activities, supplies for clean drinking water, and the protection of fish, shellfish, wildlife, and public health. The mission of the Water Quality Program is to protect and restore Washington’s waters to support healthy watersheds and communities. You will also help develop and implement outreach strategies to reach all communities in the state, including underserved communities, organize and lead public involvement, and support the unit in organizing and facilitating virtual and in-person events. You will help with explaining the work our program does, why it matters, and the science behind it. As the unit’s communications coordinator, it is your job to lead our communications and outreach efforts to clean up watersheds and recover salmon. The Watershed Planning Unit is a small team that works on statewide policy issues related to water clean-up plans (TMDLs) and nonpoint sources of pollution. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.
